Tabby Thomas

Ernest "Rockin ' Tabby " Thomas ( born January 5, 1929 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; † January 1, 2014 ) was an American guitarist and singer of the Swamp Blues.

Thomas began his career as a musician during the military service with the U.S. Air Force. During the 1950s he sang in an R & B band and took first records, influenced by Roy Brown. From 1954, his collaboration with producer Jay Miller, the most successful was the song Hoodoo Party, which appeared in 1962 on Excello Records. Thomas opened in 1981 in Baton Rouge the venue Tabby 's Blues Box, which existed until 2004. Tabby Thomas is the father of musician and actor Chris Thomas King.

Tabby Thomas died shortly before his 85th birthday on New Year's Day 2014 in his home in Baton Rouge peacefully of natural causes.
