Taburno Camposauro is named after its two main peaks isolated limestone massif in the Campanian Apennines.

It is located entirely in the western part of the province of Benevento. Made it was in the Mesozoic.

In the north of the massif is separated from the mountains of the Matese through the Valle Telesina with the river Calore Irpino and to the south separates the Valle Caudina by the mountains of Partenio.

The highest peaks are Mount Taburno ( 1393 m slm ), the Camposauro ( 1390 m), the Alto Rotondi ( 1305 m), the Sant'Angelo ( 1189 m), the Gaudello ( 1226 m) and the Pentime ( 1168 m). They are arranged in a semicircle, lies close to the Valle Vitulanese.

The massif consists of two limestone blocks, which are separated from each other by the tectonic depression of the Piana di Prata.

The kind that is characteristic of the mountain Taburno, is the raven. In addition, there are woodpeckers, buzzards, Rotdrosselen, sparrows and small mammals.

The flora in the lower regions consists of oaks, to 700 meters, but also walnut, hornbeam and ash are represented, over 900 meters dominates the book, 1000-1100 meters, the holm oak.

The Monte Taburno is protected by the establishment of the Regional Natural Park Taburno - Camposauro since 14 September 1994. Likewise, he is protected by the 1996 which came into force landscape plan Taburno.

From the top of Taburno one has a wide view of the entire Valle Caudina. Apart from Partenio on a clear day you can see Mount Vesuvius and the Lattari mountains.
