Tadeusz Konwicki

Tadeusz Konwicki ( born June 22, 1926 in Nowa Wilejka, now Lithuania ) is a Polish writer and film director.

He went to Wilno to school and fought in the years 1944/1945 as a partisan in the Polish Home Army. In the period after 1945, he first wrote several novels in the spirit of socialist realism, whereas in metaphorical and grotesque way he processed especially the experiences of war and occupation later. There were works in which he drew a lyrical and mythologisiertes picture of the home of his childhood, as in the novel Chronicle of some love accidents ( Kronika wypadków miłosnych ) from 1974, the Andrzej Wajda filmed in 1986. Another focus of his work is the representation of the decay of moral values ​​and social bonds in the totalitarian state, as in the first underground laid novel A small apocalypse ( Mała apokalipsa ) from the year 1979 ( filmed by Constantin Costa -Gavras, 1992). Konwicki is also regarded as one of the founders of the Polish auteur film. On the basis of their own screenplays was 1957-1989 a series of works. From 1956 to 1968 he was head of dramaturgy of the film studio Kadr, founded by director Jerzy Kawalerowicz. In 1966 he was awarded the State Prize, First Class, in 2002 the price of the Polish PEN Club.
