Tadeusz Ważewski

Tadeusz Ważewski (* September 24 1896 in Chortkiv in Galicia, Austria - Hungary, † September 5, 1972 in Rabka ) was a Polish mathematician of Krakow mathematician school. The focus of his work was concerned Ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, set theory and topology.

Ważewski first studied physics at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, before switching to mathematics thanks to Prof. Stanisław Zaremba. He received his doctorate in Paris and his habilitation in Krakow 1927. During World War II he was deported by the German occupying forces in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, where he was detained for two years and survived.
