Taft is a city in Kern County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 9,200 inhabitants ( 2004). Taft is located approximately 50 km west -southwest of Bakersfield. The geographic coordinates are: 35.13 ° N, 119.44 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 39.2 km ².
The city was named first as Siding Number Two.
