Taglang La

Street board at La Taglang with incorrect altitude

K

The Taglang La ( also Tanglang La) is located in the district of Ladakh in northwest India, and is a 5317 -meter-high, seasonal ( June-September) drivable mountain pass. The importance of Taglang La is that he is on the major transport connection of the Leh-Manali Highway.

According to information boards of the Indian road authorities is the Taglang La with 5359 meters the second highest motorable pass in the world. Only the Kardung Pass was higher with the supposed 5604 meters. However, it must be assumed that the pass of La Taglang of 5359 meters is not the truth, because of record claims. In the case of La Kardung this could be confirmed by GPS: Catalan scientists measured instead of the 5604 meters, 5360 meters only.
