Taira Hara

Taira Hara (Japaneseはら たいら, actually :原 平, Hara Taira; born March 8, 1943 in Tosayamada (now Kōchi ), Kōchi Prefecture, † November 10, 2006 in Fujimi, Saitama Prefecture) was a Japanese manga artist.

Already at the age of 14 he began to send to various magazines manga. 1963, at age 19, he moved to Tokyo and took his first comic as a professional illustrator with Shinjuku B · B (新宿B · B) in the manga magazine Manga Times out. It was followed by numerous other works, who worked primarily with nonsense humor. His most acclaimed manga he created in 1972 with Monro - chan (モンロー ちゃん) for his magazine Manga Goraku.

Haras great popularity in Japan was mainly due to his participation in the Quiz Show Quiz Derby (クイズ ダービー) of the television station TBS. At this he took from 1977 to 1992 with over 800 items as a prominent part Fragenbeantworter.

Because of the participation in this telecast, he worked from then on no longer for manga magazines, but for newspapers. He has published in the 1980s, including in Sankei Shimbun, Hokkaido Shimbun, Nihon Keizai Shimbun and Chunichi Shimbun manga. He also wrote English textbooks for older people and a book about his experiences with male menopause.

Hara died at the age of 63 from liver failure.
