Taj al-Din al-Hasani

Taj al-Din al - Hasani (Arabic تاج الدين الحسني; * 1885 in Damascus, Syria Vilayet, † January 17, 1943 ibid ) was a Syrian politician and Islamic theologian.

Life

Al- Hasani was born in 1885 in a Sunni family of Islamic scholars in the then Ottoman Damascus. He studied his father Bader al - Hasani Edine Islamic theology.

At the time of the French League of Nations mandate over Syria Taj al-Din al - Hasani was used on 15 February 1928 by the French as the first President of the Syrian Republic, a position he held until 19 November 1931. After his removal from al - Hasani was compensated on March 16, 1934, the office of Prime Minister, which he exercised, however, only until 22 February 1936.

During the Second World War, al - Hasani was re- used after the Syrian- Lebanese campaign on 16 September 1941 as head of state. A week later recognized Charles de Gaulle of the Free French forces and the independence of Syria, but also present with permanent military bases. As a result, al - Hasani approached the nationalist Bloc at national, but he died a short time later, on 17 January 1943 of a heart attack.

He was married to Mousirra Midani and had five children.
