Tajae

Region

Tajaé is a rural municipality in the department of Illela in Niger.

Geography

Tajaé lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Illela the northwest, Badaguichiri in the northeast, southeast and Allela Malbaza in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 18 administrative villages, seven traditional villages and 33 hamlets. The main town of the country church is Tajaé consisting of the administrative villages Tajaé sédentaire and Tajaé nomad.

History

The rural community Tajaé went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Illela / Tajaé. When the floods in West and Central Africa 2010 6468 Resident of Tajaé were classified as disaster victims.

Population

At the 2001 census Tajaé had 38,432 inhabitants. For the year 2010 51.784 inhabitants were calculated.

Policy

In the local elections in July 2004 Ibro Handjar ( PNDS - Tarayya ) was elected mayor.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located at the junction of the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the north to the zone of the irrigation field economy of the South.
