Takashi Uchiyama (内 山 高志Japanese, Takashi Uchiyama, born November 10, 1979 in Kasukabe ) is a Japanese professional boxer and current world champion of the WBA super featherweight.

Boxing career

He began at the age of 15 years with the boxing and won 91 of 113 amateur fights. 2001, 2002 and 2003, he was Japanese champion in the lightweight and won in April 2002 and the bronze medal at the International strongly occupied King's Cup in Bangkok. In July 2003 he took part in the 12th World Championships in Bangkok, where he won in the preliminary rounds against Tin Wei Hung from Taiwan and Anton Maksimov from Belarus, before he was defeated in the second round against Gyula Kate of Hungary. During his amateur career, he worked part-time as a salaryman.

In 2005 he became a professional and won seven fights in a row, five of them prematurely. He then punched on 8 September 2007, at the OPBF Championship ( Oriental -Pacific Championship ) super featherweight and won by KO in the eighth round against Nedal Hussein ( Record: 43 wins - 4 losses ).

After five successful title defenses he received on January 11, 2010 WBA super featherweight title shot against Juan Carlos Salgado ( 21-0 ) and defeated the Mexicans by TKO in the twelfth round. He defended the championship belt already four months later by TKO in the sixth round against the Latin American champion of WBA Ángel Granados ( 18-8 ) from Venezuela.

In September 2010, he defeated Roy Mukhlis ( 23-2 ) from Indonesia by TKO in the fifth round and in January 2011 his countryman Takashi Miura (20-1 ) by TKO in the eighth round. December 31, 2011, he met his now fourth title defense on the Mexican Jorge Solis ( 41-3 ), which he in the eleventh round by TKO defeated. After this defeat Solís announced his retirement from boxing.

His fight against Michael Farenas ( 34-3 ) of the Philippines in July 2012 ended in the third round with a technical draw because Uchiyama it was an injury caused by a collision with the heads, which caused the referee to the demolition of the fight. On 31 Dec 2012 Uchiyama defended his title for the sixth time against Bryan Vazquez ( 29-0 ) from Costa Rica by TKO in the eighth round.

After Adrien Broner ascended the end of 2012 the lightweight, Takashi Uchiyama is led by Ring Magazine at number 1 in the world rankings among others. In May 2013 he won by whacked in the fifth round against Jaider Parra ( 20-0 ).
