Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy

With tactical skill the Tiger Mountain conquered (Chinese智取威虎山, Pinyin Zhìqǔ Wei hǔshān ) is a revolutionary Peking opera from the period of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

The opera was one of the eight model operas that were tolerated during the Cultural Revolution under Mao Zedong's wife Jiang Qing.

Background

The plot is based on the novel Lin Hai Xue Yuan (Chinese林海雪原, Pinyin Lín hǎi Xue yuán ), which, during the Chinese Civil War goes back to an incident in 1946 when the communist reconnaissance soldier Yang Zirong, who passed himself off as a bandit, a band of robbers infiltrated and thus the communist soldiers helped to destroy the gang.

Adaptation

1970 turned the director Xie Tieli a movie with the same title.
