Talnakh

Talnach (Russian Талнах ) is a formerly independent town and today the municipality of Norilsk with 47 307 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia.

City rights were granted Talnach in November 1982. 2004 it was amalgamated with Kajerkan to Norilsk. Talnach is about 25 km northeast of the center of Norilsk and is connected to it by a road. The inhabitants Talnachs can also use the Alykel Airport, which is located about 40 km west of Norilsk.

In 1920 an expedition coal and sulfur were discovered in the region of the later Talnach, later they found copper and nickel. The Soviet Union drove the mining of raw materials ahead without regard for the environment. To do this, created with the greatest tunnels and mining systems in the world. Appropriate industrial contributed to the dismal impression of a city that is only slowly recovering from the sins of previous years.
