The Tambora is the language of Tambora culture that settled on the island of Sumbawa in Indonesia today. At the outbreak of the Tambora volcano in 1815, the culture, and thus the language was completely wiped out.

The language is only obtained by a word list that was recorded before the outbreak and published in 1817. Due to the lack of sources, the language can not be classified, but it does not seem to be related to the surrounding Austronesian languages.
