Carys Davina " Tanni " Grey- Thompson, Baroness Grey- Thompson DBE ( born July 26, 1969 in Cardiff ) is a Welsh native, former British athlete, one of the most successful Paralympians Olympic history. Grey- Thompson started in the classification TW3 and placed there for more than 30 world records.

Life

The athlete, who has a two-year older sister named Sian, was born with spina bifida, a Neuralrohrfehlbildung and is confined to a wheelchair. In 1991 she graduated from Loughborough University with a Bachelor in Political and Social Sciences. Over the years, her honorary doctorates were awarded by 25 universities. In 2005 she was Pro Chancellor of Staffordshire University. Grey- Thompson has been married since 1999, has a daughter (* 2002) and lives in the small English town in the Borough of Redcar Redcar and Cleveland in the North East England.

She works as a presenter and both radio stations and on television and has been with the broadcasters BBC Wales, S4C and BBC One.

Sports career

Grey- Thompson's first major tournament was the Junior National Games for Wales in 1984. Four years later she made her debut at the Summer Paralympics in Seoul, South Korea, where she achieved a bronze medal in the 400 - meter race. Your international breakthrough at the British denfolgenden Summer Paralympics in Barcelona. There, she won four gold medals and dominated the sprint competitions in their classification. On 24 March 2010 Tanny Grey- Thompson was appointed Life Peeress. It bears the title Baroness Grey- Thompson of Eaglescliffe in the County of Durham. On 29 March 2010 she was formally appointed to office. Grey- Thomspon said their oath and was assisted by Sebastian Coe and Ilora Finlay, Baroness Finlay of Llandaff. She spoke the oath in English and Welsh.
