Tanycyte

The Tanycyt ( Ependymocytus columnaris ) is an ependymal belonging to the cell type.

The highly prismatic Tanycyten carry apical microvilli, often a cilium, and run from basal in a long process that can extend at low animals gliae to the limiting membrane externae (outer Gliagrenzmembran ).

The Tanycyten are apically connected by tight junctions. Many circumventricular organs are characterized by Tanycyten, such as Subkommissuralorgan and the median eminence.
