The riverside with the Chinese name Chinese Tao He洮河, also called Tao River, is a tributary of the upper Huang He ( Yellow River ) in the southwestern Chinese province of Gansu. Its source is in the mountains Xiqing Shan西 倾 山in the Autonomous District Henan Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in the south Huangnan of Tibetans in the Chinese province of Qinghai on the border of Gansu and Qinghai.

With the rivers Lu Qu ( ཀླུ་ཆུ་. ); Guangtong He (广 通河), Dayu He (大 峪河) and Zhuke He (朱 可 河) he belongs to the Gansu (甘肃) river network. In Yongjing circuit it flows into the Liujiaxia dam. It is 673 km long.

In its catchment area several Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures were widespread (see Majiayao culture, Banshan - Machang culture, Siwa culture, Xindian culture, Qijia culture, Tangwang culture).
