Tao Tao - animal stories from around the world (Jap.タオタオ 絵本 館 世界 動物 ばなし, Tao Tao ehonkan - Sekai Dobutsu - banashi, dt "Tao Tao storybook house - World Animal Stories " ) is a Japanese animated series ( anime) with 52 episodes from 1983 -1985.

Content

The title character Tao Tao is a small panda bear with his mother panda in Waizantal lives together in China and spends with his friends, including the monkey Kiki, the rabbit and the squirrel Puu Puru that time. Production and publication

The series was co-produced by ZDF and ran there as German Original Air Date from January 28 to April 21, 1984 ( sequence 1-13), from 1 September to 14 November 1984 ( episode 14-25 ) and 23 October 1985 to May 14, 1986 ( episode 26-52 ). Shuichi Nakahara and Tatsuo Shimamura were responsible for the designs and directing. In addition to the series, there is also a film about the giant panda Tao Tao - The Little Panda (1981).

Published in 2004, Universal Music for German speaking countries the first 42 episodes on ten individual DVDs. The remaining episodes were, however, no longer published. Instead, Ufa Kids published between September 2008 and September 2009, the entire series in four 2- DVD set with 13 episodes.

The Bastion -Verlag published 43 comic books with Tao Tao stories that were almost all drawn from the comic studio Interpubli / Barcelona. The title screen illustrations of these comic book series have been realized (up to 3 ) by André Roche / Munich, who also supplied the model templates for kids Surprise Promotions Ferrero of 1985.

Furthermore, four paperbacks and three albums that deal with the stories of pandas appeared.
