The Tapanahony (also: Tapanahoni ) is a river in the southeast of Suriname, in the district Sipaliwini.

The Tapanahony is a tributary of the Marowijne. It rises in the southern border and Eilert -de- Haan Mountains. Northward flowing breaks through the upper reaches of the river to a maximum of 700 m high hill and mountain country. Here he passed the Trió villages Aloepi 1 and 2 after recording the Awalapa flows of Tapanahony to the northeast, along the village Peleloe (u ) Tepoe (u ), which has an airstrip. Then he takes on the Seitenkreek Blakawatra ( black water ) and flows past the village Trió Alopi. Here he joins the Paloemeu. Behind the village Maboga changes the flow direction from northeast to east. In this part he has numerous rapids and waterfalls. After the Tapanahony again inclines to the north, with the Doemansingi and the Grinkasabafällen it flows in the Granborifällen in the relatively densely populated area of the Marron Ndyuka with numerous villages. Here the Tapanahony is rich in river islands to its confluence with the Marowijne ( Sranan: tabiki ) with Drietabbetje or Diitabiki as the center and residence of the head master Ndyuka Gazon Matodja.

The southern area of Tapanahony has remained unknown for a long time. The since the first peace treaty of Ndyuka or Aukaner with the Dutch colonial administration in 1760 here free-living Marrons had denied to well into the 19th century their collaboration in the exploration of Tapanahony and thus to their homes.
