The Tara (Russian Тара ) is a 806 km long right tributary of the Irtysh River in western Siberia.

Course

The Tara rises in about 140 m altitude in the swamp Wassjuganje in the south-central part of the West Siberian Plain, north of Novosibirsk Oblast, near the border with Tomsk Oblast. The Tara flows in predominantly westerly direction, reached in the middle reaches of the Omsk Oblast and turns shortly before it flows into northwestern direction. At its entire length, the Tara meanders widely in their weak valley floor. She finally ends at the village of Ust- Tara, about 25 kilometers southeast of the city was named after her Tara, which was originally founded near the mouth and later moved, in the Irtysh. The most important tributary is the Maisas from the right.

Hydrographic

Infrastructure
