Târgu Bujor

Târgu Bujor is a city in the Galaţi county in the west of Moldova in Romania.

Location

Târgu Bujor located in the southern part of Moldavia Plateau ( Podişul Moldovei ) at the confluence of two streams. The county capital of Galaţi is located about 50 km south.

History

The oldest archaeological finds date from approximately 12,000 BC Târgu Bujor in 1775 first mentioned. 1844 the place to market has been charged. 1968 he was appointed to the city.

The main industries are agriculture (especially vineyards) and food processing.

Population

1930, Târgu Bujor about 4,000 inhabitants, of whom about 150 Jews. As of the 2002 census, 7,486 people were registered, including about 5,100 in the city proper, the others in the two incorporated villages. 7,265 were Romanians and 221 Roma.

Traffic

Târgu Bujor is located on the railway line from Galaţi after Bârlad. In both directions currently operate (2009) daily for about three trains daily. These are regular buses after Galaţi.
