Tartu Observatory

The Tartu Observatoorium is an observatory in Estonia. It is located near the village Tõravere in the rural community Nõo about 20 km southwest of Tartu.

It originated from the observatory of Dorpat, as this in 1946 by the University of Tartu ( German: Dorpat ) was separated, and in 1963 built a new building. It was in 1974 equipped with a 1.5 -meter reflecting telescope, which complemented the 0.5 meter telescope of the old observatory. In 1998 a telescope with a 0.6 m diameter has been added. Major Scientists at the observatory was under other Jaan Einasto.
