Tarzan and the Golden Lion is an American adventure film made in 1927 by JP McGowan based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Action

Lord Greystoke lives as Tarzan in his home in the heart of Africa. He waits for the arrival of some member of the family, including his wife, his sister Betty and their fiance. Added to this is Jack Bradley, who works for the Grey Stokes.

The native Weesimbo told Tarzan by a mysterious city of diamonds, from which he had escaped. Tarzan pulls against the expected visit and can knock off the attack of the ruthless criminal Esteban on the group. As Tarzan goes hunting, Esteban attacks the unprotected home, and takes Betty caught. With the lion Jad - Bal -Ja Tarzan takes up the chase.

Cadj, the high priest in the diamond palace, learns of the arrival of Esteban and his gang. Cadj can kidnap Betty, but he does not want to save, but sacrificing his Leuven God Numa. Weesimbo shows Tarzan the way to the city. Tarzan kills Numa and is regarded as the new God because of his relationship with Jad - Bal -Ja, who kills Esteban.

Background

The film was premiered in March 20, 1927. In Germany he appeared in a restored version on 1 December 1996 on German television in an aura of a cultural channel ARTE.

From the force as lost film so far appeared on a French copy in the 1990s.

James Pierce was a guest at a party of the writer and Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs. Burroughs convinced Pierce to work as a fourth Tarzan actor and to reject the planned role of an Airman in the drama Wings ( this role was later occupied with Gary Cooper ). He later became the son of the author.
