Tatoeba

Tatoeba is a project whose name comes from the Japanese and "for example" means. The objective is to collect as many sentences which are translated into several languages ​​.

Tatoeba is a large inventory of exemplary sentences which are translated into several languages. It works as a multi-lingual translation dictionary where, if one examines the translation of a word, not only this place but full sentences in which the words you typed. The record entries will be gradually supplemented by audio files.

The text is based on the collection of Tatoeba corpus Tanaka, a large collection of parallel sentences in Japanese and English. Since 2006 have been added under the direction of Trang Ho many other languages. Among them are Low German, Latin and planned languages ​​such as Esperanto, Toki Pona or Klingon.

Structure

The records collection as a graph with nodes and arrows in structure: Each node represents a set, and each arrow represents the connection between two sentences. If two sets are connected, they have the same meaning.

In November 2013 131 languages ​​were represented. Of the total of 2.6 million sets 373 000 English, 277 000 and 230 000 in Esperanto German written. The ranks 4 and 5 show with French and Spanish with 210 000 189 000 entries.
