Tatsuo Hirano

Tatsuo Hirano (Japanese平野 达 男, Tatsuo Hirano, born 2 May 1954 in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture) is a Japanese politician, MP for Iwate in Sangiin, the upper house of the national parliament, and a former minister.

Hirano, a graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Tokyo, after graduating in 1777 was an official in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1982, he completed a graduate program at Iowa State University. In the 1990s, the Ministry sent him to the prefectural government of Iwate. In 2000, he also worked as a lecturer at the University of Tokyo and at the Graduate School of the University of Iwate. In 2001 he ended his official career and turned to politics.
