Tatyana Ovechkina

Tatiana Nikolaevna Owetschkina (Russian Татьяна Николаевна Овечкина, born Kabaeva (Russian Кабаева ), born March 19, 1950 in Moscow, Soviet Union) is a former Soviet basketball player mordwinischer Abstammnung.

At the age of 16 years was Owetschkina member of the team of Dynamo Moscow, three years later she was appointed captain of the team. With the Soviet national basketball team Owetsckina won the Olympic gold medal both in Montreal in 1976 and in Moscow in 1980. Add to this a world title in 1975 and six European Championship title (1970, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980). Throughout her international career, she never lost an official match at Olympic Games, World or European Championships. Owetschkina wore the jersey number "8".

Owetschkina is married to former professional football player Mikhail Ovechkin. The couple had three sons: Sergei († 1995), Mikhail and Alexander, with the Russian national ice hockey team won the world title in 2008.
