Tăuții-Măgherăuș

Tautii - Magheraus [ təutsi - məgerəuʃ ] (Hungarian Miszmogyorós ) is a town in Maramureş County in Romania.

Location

Tautii - Magheraus lies in the region of Satu Mare, near the mouth of the River Lapus in Someş ( German Somes ). The county town Baia Mare is located about 8 km to the east.

History

The earliest archaeological evidence of human habitation of the area date back to the Paleolithic era.

After the Hungarian historian Gyula Schoenherr believes go indirect evidence for the existence of the place back to the beginning of the 13th century. In the 15th century, therefore, to some pursued the Hussites in Bohemia to leave their homes and in Tautii - Magheraus - have settled - then part of the Kingdom of Hungary.

The first written mention of the village was 1440th Tautii - Magheraus was long dominated by agriculture and viticulture.

After the end of the First World War, the city came to Romania. 1964 was opened south of Tautii - Magheraus the Baia Mare Airport. Nearby mining activity on gold. Other important economic sectors are agriculture and wood processing.

2004 Tautii - Magheraus was declared a city.

Population

1880 lived on the territory of today's 3,636 people, of whom only 347 in Tautii - Magheraus and 3,289 in today's incorporated towns. 2,446 thereof described themselves as Romanians, 1,144 as Hungary and 29 as German. 1966 was found to be 7.968, the maximum population. As of the 2002 census, 6,713 inhabitants were registered, of which 2,232 in Tautii - Magheraus and 4481 in several incorporated villages. 5,660 were Romanians, 969 Hungarians, 70 Roma and 10 German.

Traffic

Tautii - Magheraus itself has no railway connection. The place is my finished Busag has a stop on the railway line Satu Mare Baia Mare. There are regular bus services to Baia Mare.
