Tauzieher

Tauzieher or " The Tauzieher " is a sculpture made of limestone, which was erected in the years 1910-1911 at the Rheinauhafen in Cologne. It belonged in 1980 to the first cultural monuments, which were asked in Cologne under monument protection.

History

On the occasion of the exhibition of the Association Cologne artist in 1908 in Cologne Flora presented in Charlottenburg resident, but a native of Cologne sculptor Nikolaus Friedrich from a character who was lively appeal in art circles. Considerations to install a greatly enlarged copy on a fancy place in Cologne, led to a collection Cologne art friends. The place was chosen on a free surface on the timber market before the new Cologne harbor. The place was still herzurichtende to the right of the swing bridge and walk the Malakoff tower.
