Taylor Hackford

Taylor Edwin Hackford ( born December 31, 1944 in Santa Barbara, California) is an American film director and producer, and since July 2009, acting president of the Directors Guild of America.

Taylor Hackford visited the Santa Barbara High School and studied at the USC School of International Relations. After graduating from the USC School of Cinema-Television in 1968, he began his film work with documentation for KCET, a public television stations in Los Angeles. As one of the first filmmakers, he established rock ' n ' roll shows on TV.

For his documentary films and for his journalistic contributions he received an Associate Press Award and two Emmy Awards. These prices was followed by other awards and nominations. His film Ray (2004 ) has also received several awards, including the Oscar for Best Actor (Jamie Foxx ).

Hackford is the father of the American actor Rio Hackford ( Actor Stanley in the movie Scotch and Milk, 1998). Since December 31, 1997, he is married to British actress Helen Mirren and lives with her in Los Angeles.
