Tazenda

Tazenda is a band from Sardinia, which plays a very melodic rock with sophisticated, sometimes critical, but above all very poetic texts in Sardinian and Italian. The group fused elements of traditional Sardinian music with rock and ranks as the most individual representatives of the Italian rock music.

Career

The band was founded in 1988 by three members of the group Coro degli Angeli as one of the first etnic rock groups in Italy. The name Tazenda derives from a fictional planet in Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy.

The founding lineup consisted of

  • Andrea Parodi (voc ) (since 2007 Beppe Dettori )
  • Gino Marielli ( g) and
  • Gigi Camedda ( keyb, voc)

In the period that followed the successes accumulated et al with two other well-received performances at the San Remo Festival 1991 ( together with Pierangelo Bertoli and the song Pitzinnos in sa Gherra - Spunta la Luna dal monte ). , and 1992, the awareness grew, so the 1991 released album murals in Italy already a print run of more than 200,000 reached and beyond also in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was sold ( on Virgin ). At least since about the time they are considered as the musical figurehead of Sardinia.

They toured extensively, first by Italy and later also from abroad, earned several Italian prices, worked with numerous Italian and international artists such as Fabrizio de André or the Simple Minds and were Sting's only concert of 1994 on Italian soil whose support band.

The highlight of their musical development they reached in 1995 with her undoubtedly produced in the USA album Fortza paris, next to the murals and Limba (1992 ) Probably the most impressive work of the group.

Parodi, the unmistakable voice Tazendas left the band in 1997 to start a solo career, during which he. Three albums, one of them along with Al Di Meola, produced The departure Parodi ( he was, among other things replaced by Gianmario Masu ), the group has never properly absorbed. Creativity, quality and productivity suffered noticeably in the subsequent period.

However, was released in 2005 after it had become a few years pretty quiet around the group, a reunion concert with Andrea Parodi with Bumba a new album with eleven titles and first published on 4 June 2006 in Porto Torres ( Sardinia) before an audience of 20,000 instead.

On 17 October 2006 Andrea Parodi died at the age of only 51 years to cancer. Appeared posthumously in 2007 his album " Pink Resolza ", which he had recorded together with Elena Ledda.

Also in 2007, Beppe Dettori took the place in the group, the previously Andrea Parodi had filled. Concerts in many places in the Sardinian island and on the mainland followed. During the year, the Group achieved new success with the album " Vida " and the single " Domo mia" (Andrea Parodi dedicated ). More by chance, a collaboration with Eros Ramazzotti had revealed who actually acted as a producer for the label Radiorama. Finally the album in Italy was awarded the " Golden Record ". 2008 was followed by the album " Terra Madre ". The single of the same was made in cooperation with the singer Francesco Renga ( formerly of Timoria ). The sound moves, as almost always in Tazenda, between traditional and modern. The view of the texts is directed towards the future, they move between environmental problems and positive attitude to life. An interesting musical experiment is the song "Phonetic illusion " in which the Sardinian language is so very English modulated so that one hardly noticed the superficial listening to what language it actually is.
