TB Tvøroyri

TB Tvøroyri is the oldest football club in the Faroe Islands and is simultaneously one of the oldest in the Kingdom of Denmark to the Faroe Islands today belong.

History

The club ( complete: Tvøroyrar Bóltfelag ) was founded on 13 May 1892 in Tvøroyri on the island Suðuroy.

The former student Poul Effersøe of Suðuroy (* 1871 in Trongisvágur, † 1926 in Tórshavn, later lawyer ) is regarded as a pioneer soccer of the Faroe Islands. He returned to his graduation in 1889 in Denmark to his island back, and made known the game there. Three years later, the club was founded. It was not until twelve years later, in 1904, HB Tórshavn and KÍ Klaksvík followed.

Tvøroyri TB is one of the most famous and over long distances most successful football clubs in the Faroe Islands. Especially at the beginning of the played championship since 1942, the association was able to enter again and again as a master or cup winners in history.

In the 20 years 1942-1962 was the club champion four times, five times runner-up and was the Faroese Cup four times decide for themselves.

However, this glorious era was followed by a gradual decline, as between 1962 and the founding of the Faroese Football League (now Effodeildin, before 1 Deild ) began to wane greater success.

With the beginning of the first Deild 1976, which consisted of seven teams, TB Tvøroyri experienced the most successful phase of its history. The club was the first champion of the newly founded League and was until 1982 still among the best two teams. In addition, TB was in those six years, three times in the cup final.

At this great epoch in their history, however, TB Tvøroyri should never be able to build. One last league title in 1987 was once again take notice. But a year later the first Deild was increased to 10 teams and the defending champion had in 1988 as ninth in the table descend for the first time in its history. The descent could not have come quickly: From master to relegated within a year.

From this failure, the club could not recover. Although followed 1989, the first ascent, but in the years 1990-1995 to TB Tvøroyri was only in the lower half of the table. With the descent 1996, the club has become a real lift team. The uprisings in 1997, 2001 and 2004 were compared with the immediate -downs in 1998, 2002 and 2005.

The end of 2007, there were considerations to unite the teams of the island Suðuroy. While the members of Royn Hvalba voted in favor, the members of TB Tvøroyri decided against the merger. 2009 and 2010, the club finished in the first Deild the third place after three times previously been missed in a row as each fourth place, the rise in the Vodafonedeildin. 2011, the ascent seemed to be missed again, as was a worse goal difference by six goals to book before the last match against the same team point of AB Argir, by a 11-0 win against EB / Streymur II and a 6-1 victory AB Argir against FC Hoyvík this residue could, however, still balanced and the rise can be achieved by the more goals scored. The ultimate goal for TB fell from the penalty spot in the sixth minute of injury time. Then succeeded in the first division only because of more goals scored against B68 Toftir, who were both on points and goal difference had the same, to avoid relegation. In a direct duel on the final day thus B68 was missing in a 4-1 away win just one goal to avoid relegation. A year later, then followed for TB by a ninth place in the final table of the transition to the second division.
