Te Araroa Trail

The Te Araroa Trail ( The Long Pathway ) is the longest distance hiking trail in New Zealand and was officially opened in December 2011. It begins at Cape Reinga on the North Island of New Zealand and ends in the village of Bluff on the South Island. The total distance is about 3030 km and is divided into 300 sections. Organized the construction of eight regional sub-groupings, the so-called trusts ( Trust Auckland, Waikato Trust, Trust Whanganui, Manawatu Trust, Trust Wellington, Canterbury / West Coast Trust, Trust Otago, Southland Trust). Besides the government, numerous volunteers and commercial partners involved in the construction.
