Te Whanga Lagoon

The Te Whanga Lagoon is a lake in Iceland Chatham in the South Pacific off the east coast of New Zealand.

The lake dominates with its 179 km ² area of the landscape in the interior of the 899 km ² island. The lake collects the drainage of several small rivers in the southern hills of the island, including the Awainanga River and the Mangatu stream. The water runs through multiple channels in the Hanson Bay on the east coast of the island in the Pacific Ocean from.

On the shore of the lake fossil shark teeth are found.

The lake has several islands, including Waikawa Iceland, Iceland Moturangaranga, Motuhinahina Iceland and the Limestone Rocks.
