Tebay

Tebay is a place in today's Cumbria in North West England with a population of 728 ( 2001). The place belonged traditionally to the County of Westmorland.

The place was in 1844 at the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway, and from there branched from the line after Ingleton, which was set in 1963. The place had from 1852 until July 1, 1968 and a train station. The Tebay station was from 1861 to 1962 the starting point, which originally operated by the South Durham and Lancashire Union Railway line to the Stockton and Darlington Railway at Bishop Auckland. Steam locomotives in support of trains at Shap Summit were stationed in Tebay. The West Coast Main Line today leads past the site. There is also very near to the resort the service area Tebay Service and the exit J38 of the M6 motorway motorway.
