The Yellow Trumpet Flower ( Tecoma stans ), sometimes referred to as Yellow Trumpet Tree or Yellow Trumpet Flower, is a plant belonging to the family Bignoniaceae ( Bignoniaceae ).

Dissemination

The home of the Yellow Trumpet Flower ranges from Mexico to Peru. Today, it is grown as an ornamental plant throughout the tropics.

Description

The Yellow Trumpet flower grows as evergreen shrub or small tree, reaching heights of growth 6-9 meters. The opposite leaves are imparipinnate, with 3-13 serrate, 8-10 cm long leaflets.

The golden-yellow flowers appear in clusters at the ends of branches, are bell-shaped vase-shaped, five-lobed (where weak double lip ), often reddish veined in throat and 3.5 to 8.5 cm long.

The fruits can be seen from two carpels and up to 25 cm long, narrow capsules.

Special

The Yellow Trumpet Flower has been found to be invasive species in the tropical coastal regions of Polynesia and Australia, there mainly in the north of Queensland and greatly expanded.
