Tegbessou
Tegbesu was the sixth king of Dahomey. He succeeded Agadja and reigned from 1732 to 1774.
Tegbesus reign was characterized by internal intrigues and a failed foreign policy. He killed many conspirators and political opponents, refused to pay tribute to the Yorubas, and lost many battles in the following punitive expeditions. His main symbol was a buffalo wearing a tunic. His other symbols were the blunderbuss, a weapon that he gave his warriors - the first time had the royal army access to firearms - and a door with three nose -less heads in memory of his victory over rebellious subjects, who Zou, whose body he mutilated.
