The military airfield Tel Nof ( ICAO code Code LLEK, even Air Force Base 8 and Hebrew בסיס חיל - האוויר תל נוף ) is a military airfield in the Israeli Air Force (IAF ) and is located near Rehovot.
During the British Mandate period here was a base for the Royal Air Force. During the Palestine war the base was named Ekron. Today in Tel Nof several fighter planes and helicopter squadrons are located. Several special units of the Israel Defense Forces are also here, including the unit 669, the Airborne Combat Search and Rescue and the training center for the Israeli Paratrooper Brigade. Until her laying on the military airfield Chazerim in April 1966, here was also the flyer Academy of IAF.
It is believed that the Israeli nuclear weapons are stored at the base. Combat aircraft that can carry such weapons are on the base for 30 years around the clock on alert.
