Télam

Telam is an Argentine news agency.

Telam was founded on 14 April 1945 under the name Telenoticiosa Americana. The agency was created during the reign Edelmiro Julián Farrell and Juan Domingo Perón, to face the dominance of the two North American news agencies United Press International ( UPI) and Associated Press (AP ) under the control of a national news counterpoint. The first director was Gerónimo Jutronich. The first office of the company was located in the Avenida 25 de Mayo 140, the Agency was going to start a partly state-owned, embossed and partly from private investors, joint venture, while today, after interim closure on 30 May 1963, nationalization on 24 June 1968, renamed as State Sociedad del Estado. The only shareholder is the Secretaría de Medios de Comunicación.

Telam has around 300 subscribers for the service offered by their journalism. Among them are the nation's largest press organizations, as well as smaller local media, use the Telam as a primary news source. Telam employs approximately 450 employees, of which slightly more than half belong to the journalistic activity. The national correspondent network consists of 28 people and extends over the entire national territory of Argentina.
