Telenor Serbia

Telenor Srbija (Serbian: Теленор Србија ) is a Serbian mobile phone provider, which traded until July 1, 2006 under the name Mobtel.

History

Telenor Srbija was (a friend of then-President Slobodan Milošević ) founded in 1994 as a joint venture between the Serbian PTT Post and the company " BK Trade" of the Serbian millionaire Bogoljub Karic. The proportion of Karic had bought in May 2005 Austrian financial investors led by Martin Slack and Josef Taus, which led to the dispute over the ownership. The dispute came before the International Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce Zurich.

Mobtel made ​​headlines, as the Serbian government of Mobtel on 29 December 2005 withdrew the license because they had illegally entered into an agreement with a company in the province of Kosovo. Then Mobtel was placed under the management of state rivals Telekom Srbija and operated under the name Mobi63.

On 31 July 2006, the company for 1.5 billion euros was sold to the Norwegian company Telenor and Telenor Srbija renamed at an auction.
