The Teleostomi are a taxon of animals with jaws ( gnathostomata ) in which the extinct Acanthodier ( Acanthodii, " dogfish sharks ") and the bony fishes ( Osteichthyes ) are united as sister groups. Together they have as a feature the gill structure consisting of 4 pairs of gills with gill slit and operculum. According to the modern, consistent phylogenetic systematics include the terrestrial vertebrates as part of group of bony fishes to the Teleostomi ( bonefish land vertebrates = Euteleostomi ).
