Tell Aswad is a prehistoric neolithic mound about 5 kilometers east from the airfield of the Syrian capital Damascus.

The first settlement was made between 9300-8600 BC (late PPNA to early PPNB ). First excavations took place between 2001/2002. The houses were built of clay and fitted with lime plaster. Tools and weapons were made of flint. Obsidian was imported from Anatolia. Basketry, weaving, and custom-made of clay figures have been conducted since the beginning of colonization. The skulls of the dead were modeled with Tongesichtern.
