Telnyashka

Telnjaschka (Russian Тельняшка ) is the blue-white cross - striped cotton-wool traditional undershirt of the sailors of the Russian Navy.

The Telnjaschka was introduced in 1874 in the Imperial Russian Navy, later also used by the Soviet Navy, and has remained a part of the uniform of Russian mariners, paratroopers and marines. The Telnjaschka is produced in different fabric thicknesses and cuts. The quadruple warmest knitted variant was developed as undergarments for drysuits.

Other color variants such as black and white are also common. Red and white is used by the anti-terrorist unit RADON and the special forces OMON and Spetsnaz.
