Mont Temetiu

The Mont Temetiu is the highest point on the island Hiva Oa in the Marquesas archipelago of French Polynesia. It is located in the west of the island to the west of the main town Atuona and reaches a height of 1190 m above sea level. Thus Hiva Oa in the Marquesas is only just inside the third-highest island to Nuku Hiva with 1224 m and 1230 m Ua Pou. The survey is of volcanic origin and belongs to the " Marquesas linear volcanic chain" that has formed from a hot spot on the Pacific plate and at a speed of 103 - 118 mm per year is moving towards the west -northwest.
