The Temperance River is a tributary of Lake Superior in Cook County of the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The Temperance River forms the western drainage of Brule Lake. It flows through the adjacent South Temperance Lake and then flows south through the Canadian Shield. Just before its mouth at Tofte Lake Superior flows through the river the Temperance River State Park. The Temperance River has a length of 63 km. Its catchment area covers 510 km ².
