Temple of Azure Clouds

The Temple of Azure Clouds (Chinese碧云寺, Pinyin Biyun si, English Temple of Azure Clouds ) is a Buddhist temple monastery in the eastern part of Beijing's Western Hills ( Xishan西山), just outside of the scent Mountain Park North Gate ( Xiangshan Gong Yuan香山 公园) in Haidian District, a northwestern suburb of Beijing, China, about 20 km from the city center.

Name

Erich Haenisch called the plant " Monastery to the emerald green clouds." In Manchu her name niowanggiyan tugingge juktehen ᠨ ᡳ ᠣ ᠸ ᠠ ᠩ ᡤ ᡳ ᠶ ᠠ ᠨ ᡨ ᡠ ᡤ ᡳ ᠩ ᡤ ᡝ ᠵ ᡠ ᠭ ᡨ ᡝ ᡥ ᡝ ᠨ, Köke in Mongolian egületü süm -e ᠬ ᠦ ᠬ ᠡ ᠡ ᠭ ᠦ ᠯ ᠡ ᠲ ᠦ ᠰ ᠦ ᠮ ᠎ ᠡ and Tibetan lha khang sprin sngon can སྤྲིན་སྔོན་ཅན་ལྷ་ཁང་.

History

It was built in the 14th century, in 1331 during the Yuan Dynasty ( 1271-1368 ), and was extended in 1748.

The temple stands since 2001 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 5-203 ).
