Tenchi Universe
Tenchi Universe (Japanese天地 无用!宇宙 篇, Tenchi Muyo! Uchū Hen ) is an anime television series from the year 1995. It is an adaptation of the OVA series Tenchi Muyo.
Action
The student Tenchi Masaki lives with his father and his grandfather on the grounds of a Shinto shrine in rural Japan. His grandfather Katsuhito Masaki is a priest of the shrine and his father and Katsuhitos son Nobuyuki Masaki works as an architect. At the shrine one day fall from two spaceships and bring the Weltraumpiratin Ryoko and Mihoshi Kuramitsu they pursued policewoman on the earth. While Ryoko is reckless and inconsiderate and immediately fell in love with Tenchi, Mihoshi is naive, stupid and clumsy. While Mihoshi must be destroyed because of their spaceship on the earth, Ryoko want to hide on Earth and stay with Tenchi. By a further crash come the princesses Ayeka and Sasami space from the planet Jurai on the earth, with the older Ayeka Tenchi in love with, and a standing dispute with Ryoko starts at him. Also Mihoshis partner Kiyone Makibi comes to Earth to collect their unloved partner. But then both are added to the earth. By chance, give Tenchi and his friends also the crazy alien scientist Washu Hakubi, which was sealed under the shrine, as it would have almost destroyed the universe long ago. All these alien women bring their dispute, their inventions and problems much turmoil in Tenchi's life.
Suddenly, however, the fleet of Jurai shows up and wants to Ayeka and Sasami capture, as they are accused of high treason. While they may be saved, but are now all nine wanted criminals, including Tenchi and his family. To prove her innocence and find out the reason for the charges, they travel together to Jurai. Despite many obstacles on the road you arrive there and find out that now Kagato ruled on Jurai, a legendary power-hungry swordsman who wants to use the power Jurais to conquer. Tenchi's grandfather turns out to be Yosho, an equally legendary warrior Jurais that ousted long ago Kagato and then disappeared. Now he awakens in the sanctuary Jurais the two guards Jurais back to life and together they fight against Kagato. Finally, it is up to Tenchi to defeat Kagato. During the fight, Tenchi can mobilize lying in his power Jurais and wins against Kagato. Finally Tenchi versa, although he is now Crown Prince Jurais, back to earth.
Production and publication
The series was produced in 1995 by Studio Anime International Company, directed by Hiroshi Negishi, the concept of the series designed ryo Tsukimura. The character design is by Hiroyuki Horiuchi and for the artistic direction Chitose Asakura was responsible. Pioneer LDC was involved in the production and took over later for the distribution of the series.
The first broadcast of 26 episodes took place from April 2 to September 24, 1995 in TV Tokyo in Japan. In 2000 followed a broadcast in the U.S., now the series was already there on several stations. Also, translations into Spanish, Portuguese and Tagalog were produced.

Music
The music of the series was composed by Seiko Nagaoka. You used the song for the opening credits Tenchi Muyo! by Sonia. The Anspanne were underlaid with the title Up -walk in Galaxy, alternately sung by Ai Orikasa and Yumi Takada. In the English version of the song by Diane Michelle is interpreted.
Reception
In the magazine Funime is drawn to the small drawing and animation quality in comparison to the OVA series, which is common in television series. The figures are slightly modified compared to the original, some to invent and by the time the action takes its own way. However, it had some characters such as " decals " and caricatures compared with those of OVA. The series was not bad, but far from the best of Tenchi Muyo.
