Teng (state)

The state Teng (Chinese滕, Pinyin Teng or滕 国, Ténggúo ), about 1046-414 BC) was a small Chinese state in the Western Zhou Dynasty, the time of the Spring and Autumn Annals and the time of Warring of Ancient China.

It was located in the south of the present-day Shandong province. Its territory is now in the area of the municipality of Tengzhou (滕州 市).

The family name of the ruling family of Teng was Ji (姬). The state was the state Yue during the reign of King Gou Jian of Yue; conquered and annexed (越王 勾践reg 496-465 BC. ).

The small state Teng was a vassal of the state of Lu, and is the home of the Chinese philosopher Mozi ( Micius ) and the architect Lu Ban (鲁班).
