Title defenders were the American sisters Serena and Venus Williams, who won the gold medal in 2012. It was her third joint success at the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2008. Silver won the Czechs Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká, bronze went to Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova of Russia. Played on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon from July 28 to August 5, 2012. A total of 31 twin pairs took part in this tournament. The draw of the encounters took place on 26 July 2012.
