Tensile structure

As a cable network is called in architecture and construction, a construction consisting of tensioned ropes with opposite curvature. The design is mainly for the free roofing large areas and is characterized by a low weight.

Construction

Rope nets are mounted on masts and consist of carrying ropes and bungee cords together. The carrying cables take over the load transfer on masts and foundations, the tendons guarantee sufficient rigidity.

History

The pioneers of cable net structures are Vladimir Shukhov and Frei Otto.
