TEP80

As a series ТЭП80 ( German transcription: TEP80 ) are referred to two diesel locomotives of the Soviet Railways ( SZD ).

The two locomotives of this type were built from 1988 to 1989. The second locomotive of the type ( ТЭП80 -0002 ), on 5 October 1993 the section Schljus - Doroschicha the railway line St. Petersburg - Moscow north of Tver 271 km / h on the world speed record for diesel rail vehicles. The record locomotive is now in the Railway Museum of Saint Petersburg in the former Warsaw station.

Due to the fall in demand in connection with the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the guy did not go into mass production.
