Teri DeSario
Teri DeSario ( born November 27, 1951 in Miami, Florida ) is an American singer.
Career
Teri DeSario was born in Miami and grew up there as well. In high school, she made the acquaintance of Harry Wayne " KC " Casey, who with the group KC and the Sunshine Band should help shape the disco sound decisively in the 1970s. In high school DeSario gained his first experience as a singer. They also grappled with the Renaissance and early Baroque music and devoted himself as a musician of folk music. Finally, she studied jazz and experimental music of the 20th century.
DeSario in 1978 received a recording contract with the successful at the time, above all in the disco label Casablanca Records area. The Barry Gibb (Bee Gees ) written and produced debut single Is not Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You failed just short of the top 40 in the U.S., but developed into a disco classics and is still on countless compilations as such published. The corresponding LP Pleasure Train missed however the jump in the charts. In this work are several original compositions by DeSario in collaboration with her then-husband, the musician Bill Purse, included. The second single The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of was a success in the U.S. disco charts ( number 41 ). In Asia and Latin America, the singer was very popular in those days.
The album Moonlight Madness published in 1979, was the only album of her career, which made it into the Top 200 of Billboard managed ( 80th place ). The re -established Casablanca for work was produced by her old friend Harry Wayne " KC " Casey and contains the common duet Yes, I'm Ready DeSarios biggest hit in the U.S. ( 2nd place). This remake of an old Barbara Mason Hits sold over a million copies and was among other things, a chart hit in The Netherlands and New Zealand. Another single with KC, Dancin ' In The Streets ( a remake of Martha & the Vandellas hit ) was unable to repeat that success.
DeSarios last album for Casablanca, Caught, away from the disco sound of those days and oriented more towards pop and rock. Thus, among other things, a Beatles cover (I Should Have Known Better ), a Desmond -child composition ( I'm With You Now ) and several original compositions included. The production took over Bill Purse and again Harry Wayne " KC " Casey. The guitar-driven title track was released as a single - the success did not come. Then DeSario lost her record deal.
In the following years she gave up her mainstream career more or less, and devoted himself to the gospel and Christian pop music. For the LP Voices In The Wind was in early 1986 for a Grammy in the category "Best Gospel Performance - Female" nomininiert. In the following years she continued to work in Musikgeschaft, shots of her appeared only sporadically. Your voice is among other things on the sampler Truth & Light: Music from ' The X-Files ' (1996 ) for the popular television series The X-Files hear.
DeSario has lived since 1997 with her husband, a pastor in Germany. She leads three choirs and works as a freelance artist and singing teacher in Hamburg and Schleswig -Holstein. In this area, it also occurs with the Terri DeSario band and a jazz program.
